my story

Another food blog?

What the world needs now, is another blog, sweet blog…

Really? Another food blog?

For years, thinking back to pre-kids 2002, I’ve been wanting an online collection of quick easy dinner ideas where I could get inspiration. Or even create my own.  Also, one about lifestyle stuff, but that’s future talk. Anyway, I digress, as I often do…  When blogging about food and recipes became super popular, I thought “GREAT!!” So many ideas and recipes to choose from.

It was short time after reading the surplus of food blogs, that I began noticing a new personal pet peeve: scrolling. Endless. Scrolling. Easily wasting minutes of my life just to get to the ingredients and cooking instructions. Scrolling through very lengthy stories about what was happening when they discovered the recipe, and the oh so cute and funny anecdotes, and memories all invoked by this one, single, recipe.

Yippy. I care. No, actually, I do not. I don’t have time. I want to see the ingredients lickety-split. Chop chop people, I need to feed my family stat. And also it needs to be quick and healthy, normal, and accessible ingredients. Oh and also loved, or at least okayed, by my clan. My requests are simple.

I’m not here to reinvent the wheel ~

just trying to find that wheel quicker.

Dinner preparations ~ as often eloquently depicted on social media~ the weekly menu planned, list in hand, strolling through a farmers market, while holding on to the leather handles of a Provencal straw bag, which was filled with fresh seasonal produce and carefully wrapped up meat, and flowers. Produce from local farmers, who lovingly harvest their greens with antique shears, gently placing their yield in a wicker basket. Meat from locally raised cows that were bathed with micro brewed beer, local of course, and massaged biweekly with lavender oil.

KIDDING.  Although I do have the straw bag and occasionally visit a farmers market, the actual truth is that I my grocery shopping-meal planning consist of me running in between kids’ practices and games and back home to quickly throw some food in a pan. Or preheat oven for nuggets or pizza. Both served with a cut up cucumber of course. They do need their vegetables.

But every night begs the question: “What the FLIP FLOP is for dinner?”

Is there really a need for another food blog?? Countless times I have had that thought. No one is waiting for me! However, I need this blog for ME. This is what’s missing in my life. I need quick healthy options, with ingredients I already have in house. That are ready within 30 minutes, preferably quicker. I don’t have time to marinate, or slow cook for days. When I actually plan, yes, I love to make things that require extra time and weird ingredients. But reality is that most of us DO NOT plan, or rarely. And this dinner thing, is like, every night…

My blog posts will be short and sweet, unlike this one…

It will just be an ingredient list, method, and a few pictures.

Backstories and cute anecdotes about how I discovered or embarked on these recipes will be rare.

So bear with me, this is a work in progress, as am I.
